still life with wallpaper 24 x 24 mixed media
Meme gallery here in Tulsa is having a show called 2 x 2. I saw something about it a few weeks ago and thought I would paint up something quick. So I chose to use acrylics. I have had the idea of putting wallpaper in a painting for many years. I like the way it turned out. I use a limited palette of only a light and dark red, a light and dark yellow and a light and dark blue plus white. I mix all my colors and acrylics just do not cut it! I was fighting it the whole time. I am excited to do this again with oils.

still life 24 x 30
This is a new still life painting I finished yesterday. I haven't painted one in a while and decided to paint one bigger than I normally do. I have been inspired by wayne thibaud. I love his work. His work is quite large and he usually has a plain white background and strong shadows. His work is amazing. I wasn't sure how I felt about this painting for a while. Taking a step back and actually placing it on a wall helps to get a fresh perspective. I have new ideas about my next piece of artwork and can't wait to get to it! I also went back to the painting medium I used in college which I haven't used in a long time. I feel like it helped to keep it from looking too flat. The medium is equal parts turpentine, damar varnish and linseed oil.

Emmie 11 x 14 oil
Finally, It took a while to post this. This is a commissioned painting I did back in February for a very talented photographer. This sweet little dog is named Emmie.
I have moved again. This time to Tulsa, Ok. That was 2 moves in less that a year so I am done with moving. That is why I haven't posted in such a long time. Finishing the last house to get ready to put on the market took a while. It sold in a couple of days then rushing to Tulsa to find a house in a week. So in 12 months I lived in Houston,Tx , Midland, TX and Tulsa, Ok.
In the meantime artwise I was in a new gallery in Midland called Artizen outlet from February to April. I had a dog painting called "just waiting on you" in the spring juried art show in Midland in May. Currently, I have 2 paintings, the 2 below in fact in a show in Tulsa at the hardesty art center.

Downtown Houston 20 x 24 oil
So here is my latest painting I have been working on trying to get ready for a show. I am not sure what I feel about it. Maybe it is just that it didn't turn out the way I was thinking it was going to. Oh well, I like the idea of it though so I plan on doing more in this theme.

Mattie 16 x 20 oil
This cute little dog is Mattie. I did this painting for a friend of mine to give to her family member. I am happy with how it turned out. It was actually from a photo done with instagram so the colors were a little strange to paint from but I loved the warm hues of the photo. One of my favorite parts is the tile. I like all the colors in the tile and they reflected a little on the white fur of the dog. I need to have a separate blog or web page for just my pet paintings so I don't scare anyone off with the nudes that are also on this blog.
Hank 16 x 20 oil
This is a painting I did for my brother who's dog Hank passed away unexpectedly. It had been tough for his kids so I thought they might like this painting for Christmas. I am really happy with it, I hope my brother and his family will be too.
