Mattie 16 x 20 oil

This cute little dog is Mattie. I did this painting for a friend of mine to give to her family member. I am happy with how it turned out. It was actually from a photo done with instagram so the colors were a little strange to paint from but I loved the warm hues of the photo.  One of my favorite parts is the tile. I like all the colors in the tile and they reflected a little on the white fur of the dog. I need to have a separate blog or web page for just my pet paintings so I don't scare anyone off with the nudes that are also on this blog.

Hank 16 x 20 oil

This is a painting I did for my brother who's dog Hank passed away unexpectedly. It had been tough for his kids so I thought they might like this painting for Christmas. I am really happy with it, I hope my brother and his family will be too.

figure 22 x 28 oil

  • I painted this quite a while ago but i wanted to work on it a little more. We have had a busy spring and summer and now things will hopefully settle down a little. This painting was done when I was taking a figure painting class in Houston. Since then we have moved to Midland, Tx.  I am still trying to get things situated and settled and just now I am able to get back to painting. I have missed painting so it feels great to get back into the groove. I have a few more paintings I need to post and I am also painting a pet portrait for a client now.  I stumbled upon a great new gallery here in Midland Tx called Artizen Outlet, so that may be a good inspiration for me to paint.

figure study 22 x 28 oil

I am taking a figure painting class at art league houston. This is my first painting getting back into the class. I worked on this for about 5 hrs or 2 class sessions.  For the most part I like it. I like the body and most of the colors. The model is an older lady who is actually very regal looking which I am not sure if I pulled off. Now that I see it on the screen in miniature it looks different and I see some areas that need a little more work such as the knees but it is hard to work on it without looking at the model.  We will have a different model on wednesday so I can start another painting.

Buckley 16 x 20 oil

Buckley is an australian shepard that belongs to my father in law.  I also painted a cat for a friend but forgot to take a picture of it. I start my class back up next week and I am excited to get back to painting the figure. Houston Art League has a great program.

Belle 16 x 20 oil

This is a painting I did of my Mother in laws Dog Belle. She seemed a little unsure of me when I was trying to take her picture. She is a very sweet golden retriever.
