Ally 16x20 oil

This is a housewarming gift I painted for my sister-in-law. Her little girl Ally. She loved the swings.

still life with wallpaper 24 x 24 mixed media

Meme gallery here in Tulsa is having a show called 2 x 2. I saw something about it a few weeks ago and thought I would paint up something quick. So I chose to use acrylics. I have had the idea of putting wallpaper in a painting for many years. I like the way it turned out. I use a limited palette of only a light and dark red, a light and dark yellow and a light and dark blue plus white. I mix all my colors and acrylics just do not cut it! I was fighting it the whole time. I am excited to do this again with oils.

still life 24 x 30

This is a new still life painting I finished yesterday. I haven't painted one in a while and decided to paint one bigger than I normally do. I have been inspired by wayne thibaud. I love his work. His work is quite large and he usually has a plain white background and strong shadows. His work is amazing. I wasn't sure how I felt about this painting for a while. Taking a step back and actually placing it on a wall helps to get a fresh perspective. I have new ideas about my next piece of artwork and can't wait to get to it! I also went back to the painting medium I used in college which I haven't used in a long time. I feel like it helped to keep it from looking too flat. The medium is equal parts turpentine, damar varnish and linseed oil.
